Yearbook Portraits
If your school requires a traditional portrait for the yearbook please follow these guidelines for the best looking image.
Guys; choose a solid colored dress shirt and tie, sports coat or a suit jacket. You do not need to wear dress pants, they will not show in the photographs!
Girls; choose a solid colored dress, sweater, turtleneck or blouse. Colors to avoid are orange, red, white, and hot pink. Choosing a darker or neutral color with a simple neckline will work best. Please avoid sleeveless blouses and tops.
Informal Portraits
Taking time to put together 4-6 outfits will make your session go smoothly. All outfits must be pressed and on hangers. If you have matching accessories make sure to put them in bags with the outfits.
Solid colored tops and small prints work best but if you have a favorite outfit that is kind of wild bring it!
When putting together your outfits, remember that accessories are great! Scarves, hats, belts, jewelry, a fur trimmed coat, boots and dress shoes can really express your style! My advice is to check out some fashion magazines and see what looks great together.
Cami’s are great to wear underneath and make changes a breeze on-location. Try to avoid bringing all sleeveless tops. A few are ok but they tend to make your arms look bigger then they are.
Makeup is very important. Even if you do not normally wear it you will need to wear a foundation that matches your skin and mascara. Please make sure that you put on a fresh coat of makeup. Your eyes are the focus of most of your photographs so make sure there are no clumps and your eyeliner is perfect. Fake eyelashes are fine too.
Guys; bring anything that defines you. If you play sports, play a guitar, love hats or sunglasses, bring them. The possibilities are endless. Bring anything that describes who you are!
Once you book your session you will receive a senior guide with more specific information. As always contact Natalie if you have any questions!
